Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung holds the position of Minister of Science and Technology.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Minister of Information and Communications was approved by the National Assembly as Minister of Science and Technology, this is a new Ministry established on the basis of merging the Ministry of Science and Technology (old) and the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Minister of Information and Communications was approved by the National Assembly as Minister of Science and Technology, this is a new Ministry established on the basis of merging the Ministry of Science and Technology (old) and the Ministry of Information and Communications.
After the merger, the Ministry of Science and Technology (new) has 26 focal points, a decrease of 16 focal points compared to before the merger, a decrease of 38.1%. The new Ministry's post-merger staff has 1,072 civil servants and 2,312 public employees. Before the merger, the Ministry of Science and Technology (old) had 3 deputy ministers, the Ministry of Information and Communications had 3 deputy ministers. On February 17, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat was mobilized, assigned and appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung was born in 1962; hometown Tan Hong commune, Tu Son district, Bac Ninh province; professional qualifications: Master of Engineering, Master of Business Administration, Radio Telecommunications Engineer. He is a member of the Party Central Committee (terms 12 and 13).

In July 2018, while he was Chairman and General Director of Viettel Telecom Industry Group, he was appointed as Acting Minister of Information and Communications and assigned to concurrently hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department.

In October 2018, he was elected by the National Assembly as Minister of Information and Communications. In January 2021, he was re-elected as a member of the Party Central Committee, term 13.
Core unit implementing Resolution 57
On December 22, 2024, the Politburo issued Resolution 57 on scientific and technological breakthroughs, innovation and national digital transformation.

Speaking at the Conference to summarize 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025 of the Ministry of Information and Communications at the end of December 2024, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung said that the Ministry of Science and Technology is the core force to realize this particularly important Resolution.

In addition, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung also affirmed that Resolution 57 is similar to Resolution Contract 10 for agriculture 40 years ago, but this time for science, technology, innovation and digital transformation national. Resolution 10 is to escape poverty. Resolution 57 is to escape the middle-income trap. With Resolution 57, from a lack of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, we will move towards sufficiency, surplus, export and large-scale export of science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, just like we have done with agriculture.

According to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, Resolution 10 is to liberate labor, Resolution 57 is to liberate creativity.
